THE FIELD OF REMAINING REMAINS by ADÉYEMO ÈMMANUÈL (EMMADWISDOM)

Excerpt:

As he weeps by horrific sights in the north,
so we cry in south, east and west, wiped
by woe whip, since theft has become intelligence,

Like snow in the winter,
we see them everywhere;
marooned remains of beloveds,
fathers, mothers and children.

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

Mystery still it is till date
What our abel did to cain
Wany a field of stench was church
'came from cities to burn our huts to shreds.

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

Elephants at quest for power
We are the grasses, we suffer
We have snail-brave battalions;
Guardless pestles, sent message in hot pot.

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

My kid had built a car,
bones was wheel and skull the tyre
Never told it was his mama's remains
Green engineer with tools of shame

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

As he weeps by horrific sights in the north,
so we cry in south, east and west, wiped
by woe whip, since theft has become intelligence,
and our state's treasury, burning to shreds

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

            Poverty has become normality
In a land of milk and honey
            Like Ezekiel revealed remains;
it was unbearable, but by breeze and beam
we adapt, what in den shall Daniel do?

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

Shall we not tell the politi-lords?
That elephant; feller of trees falls
History's heart bare their indelible herrowic scars
Even if buried under Solomon's gold and brass.

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

             Now are we not unafraid
That coming generations suffers the same
Gothic stench gone; priceless loss ever recalled
But history shall to horrible memory court sue you
Providence shall be the material defying judge.

At first it was horribly bad
Even the mephitis could kill the dead
And now that the sun had heated,
and time; ate the flesh, our unschooled
kids, tattered in rags, make
brethren bones and skulls their toy parts.

TIED TO FREEDOM by Mide Benedict

Don’t hold me down L ike I’m in some cave Just like a bird flies Where nothing breathes light Through a hidden dark sky L ike an existence lost in inexistence, Locked up in a bottle     T hat only lives every day in an every minute coffin Tightened with an unbreakable cover.    Free me I said, but you brought me this! What freedom is more painful than   Eye balls without sights; faith without work like To walk on a spot;                    Mountains tied to your legs   While eyes go dark                    As you walk unmoving: In a place surrounded by light;            What a freedom!
