IN FRONT OF MY DEPARTMENT, OBSERVING THE NATIONS IN THE SOIL:SETTING OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY

Why do they move like this?
Have their homes been wiped out by drops
Of heaven's eye?

In the soil and upon it
They match and travel to
The unknown.
They build great walls of China as they move
And abandon these walls as they proceed
In case of casualties, nurses dwell within

'cause sometimes human stings destroy their soulless beings
Like the man I see now with a bruising cutlass
Brushing and the green folk and bushing the dead fold.

Why do they move like this?
Have their homes been wiped out by drops
Of heaven's eye?
Oh, poor things a new home they need to find
And when they find a new one,
And the time comes to move again
They would move till they find a place
For they are the black blind bonded soldiering nomads
Of nature
